About Beyond Panama
Beyond Panama is not a real estate agency. Not a law firm. Not a travel agent. We're an independent information portal for people who want to move to Panama and want to understand the landscape before making any decision.
Who we are
Moisés Alvarado — Founder & Editor
Relocation consultant · Panama real estate market
Moisés has worked directly in international relocation and the Panamanian real estate market — which means he's seen both sides: the complexity people face when choosing a visa category, picking a neighborhood, and estimating real monthly costs, and the information gaps that cause expensive mistakes. Beyond Panama was built from that direct experience — not as a service business, but as the resource Moisés wished had existed when he started working in this field.
Every guide on this site is written from direct knowledge of Panama's immigration system, real estate market, and day-to-day expat life — not from secondary sources or generic relocation content.
Our editorial approach
Primary sources only
Statistics and legal requirements are sourced from Panama's Servicio Nacional de Migración (SNM), official government publications, and direct market observation — not from other expat blogs. Each guide cites its source and date.
No invented numbers
Cost figures (rents, visa fees, monthly budgets) reflect real prices observed in the Panamanian market during the period noted. We don't quote the "brochure number" — we quote what people actually pay.
Updated when rules change
Panama's immigration rules, visa requirements, and official fees change. When they do, the relevant guide is updated with the new information and the change date noted. Outdated information on an immigration site can cost someone a visa rejection.
Comparative, not prescriptive
We present multiple visa routes and multiple areas honestly — including the drawbacks of each. The goal is for you to make a well-informed decision, not to steer you toward the option that earns us a referral.
Why Beyond Panama exists
Moving to another country has too many moving parts. Most of the information available about Panama comes from people who have something to sell you: real estate agents earning commission, law firms charging per process, or blogs monetizing with affiliates.
Beyond Panama exists to be the opposite: neutral, comparative, and up-to-date information, without sales pressure. The idea is that you reach a decision because you understood it — not because someone convinced you.

Remote professionals
Earning in USD, wanting to stretch their income in a stable, connected city. Beyond Panama covers the Digital Nomad and Friendly Nations visa routes, neighborhood breakdowns for Panama City, and the practicalities of setting up life here.

How it works
The site is free. We charge nothing to readers. If after exploring the content you want to move forward with a legal or real estate process, we discreetly connect you with qualified professionals — that's what we call a referral. Beyond Panama may receive compensation for that connection, without it changing the cost or quality of service you receive.
When you're ready to take the next concrete step, visit our Next Steps guide — it walks you through what to do first, how to prepare your documents, and how to avoid the most common first-mover mistakes.
What we don't do
- ✗ We don't handle visa or residency applications under our brand
- ✗ We don't sell properties or manage our own real estate inventory
- ✗ We don't use fake urgency or sales superlatives
- ✗ We don't invent testimonials or statistics
"Beyond Panama's idea is not visa management — it's information. And to connect people who are genuinely interested in Panama with the right professionals."
— Moisés Alvarado, founder
"I don't want the reader to feel like Beyond Panama is selling them something. I want them to feel like they finally have a friend who already went through this."
— Moisés Alvarado, founder
